Biography:

Pennywise, often appearing as a clown, is a central antagonist in adaptations of Stephen King's horror novel, It. He's a shapeshifting, ancient evil entity preying primarily on children in Derry, Maine.

One of the most recognized forms of Pennywise is the dancing clown, a guise used to lure victims. His powers include shapeshifting, illusion, telepathy, and the ability to manipulate reality within his domain. His purpose is to feed off fear, which he cultivates to make his victims more vulnerable.

The character first appeared on screen in the TV miniseries It (1990), where he was played by Tim Curry. A more recent portrayal is in the It film adaptations (2017 and 2019), with Bill Skarsgård embodying the terrifying clown.

Pennywise embodies pure evil, and his existence revolves around causing suffering and perpetuating a cycle of terror in Derry.
